Whats on This Weekend in Dublin

Dublin This Weekend: 16 to 18 October

If you’re short on plans this weekend, Dublin’s got you. Open House is the big one, Friday night has some proper gigs, and there’s plenty on for families too.

Open House Dublin

If you only do one thing, make it this. The festival has been running since 10 October, but Saturday and Sunday are the main days. Buildings, homes and public spaces all over the city and county open their doors for guided tours, so you get a look inside places you’ve probably walked past for years. It’s a bit like Culture Night, only for architecture. Saturday morning is a lovely time to get started.

Something for the kids

Saturday has a family fun day in Tallaght from 10am to 4pm, spread across Tallaght Library, Parthalán Place and the Civic Theatre. There’ll be comic book workshops, magic, music and plenty of messy play.

Maths Week is still going until Sunday as well, with free outdoor maths trails in local parks. It’s a good excuse to get everyone outside.

And if the weather doesn’t play ball, the PTSB Ideal Home Show is on at the RDS from Friday to Sunday. There are over 230 exhibitors covering interiors, renovation and design, plus talks and live demos. Handy if you’ve got work planned on the house.

A bit of Halloween

The Haunted Trail at Malahide Castle & Gardens kicks off on Saturday and runs until 31 October. It’s worth the trip north of the city if you fancy a scare after dark.

Friday night

Friday is where the music is. Moodymann is at The Bernard Shaw at 10pm, and it’s his first Irish club show in almost ten years. It opens Circles 2026, which carries on at venues around the city until 26 October.

If you’d rather dance a bit later, Cassius is at the Button Factory from 11:30pm with Colleen “Cosmo” Murphy as special guest. Earlier in the evening, Uruguayan rock band No Te Va Gustar play the same venue at 7:30pm, so you could easily do both.

For something a bit more out there, Reception Weekend at Project Arts Centre runs Thursday to Saturday with a string of Irish debuts. That includes Portuguese composer Rafael Toral, who makes electronic choral music using homemade instruments.

One warning: Angine de Poitrine at Vicar Street is sold out, so don’t get your hopes up there.

Sunday night

Comedian Nany People is at the Laughter Lounge at 8pm. Tickets are almost gone, so grab one soon if you’re interested.
