Lar Joye is Port Heritage Director at Dublin Port since 2017 responsible for 300-year-old Port Archive and the Port City Integration Team which entails the development of 16km of Greenways on the port estate and creating a distributed museum network from the Diving Bell museum on Sir Rogerson’s Quay
Previously he has worked as Curator of Irish military history at the National Museum and a Film Archivist at the Irish Film Institute. At the National Museum of Ireland he led a mixed disciplinary team to create the awarding winning Soldiers and Chiefs exhibition that covers Irish military history at home and abroad from 1550 in a new wing of the Museum.
During the decade of commemorations he partnered with the theatre company Anu Productions on the historical based plays Pals- the Irish at Gallipoli, Sunder, These Rooms and finally Book of Names at Dublin Port.
In his spare time he is currently writing a book about County Tipperary from 1912-1923, part of a series of 30 Irish county history’s and is Chair of the Irish Museum Association.
