Cambiata Chamber Choir and Orchestra present a performance of Handel’s Messiah, at the Church of Mary Immaculate Refuge of Sinners, Rathmines.
Featuring the famous ‘Hallelujah Chorus’, Handel’s ever-popular Messiah is synonymous with the Christmas season and is firmly fixed in the hearts of music lovers around the world. The work has a particular significance to Dubliners as it received its premiere in 1742 at Neal’s Musick Hall, Fishamble Street in the city centre, where Ladies and Gentlemen were requested to come without their hoop-framed skirts and swords to increase capacity, such was the demand for tickets!
Celebrating the 200th anniversary of the parish, the Church of Mary Immaculate Refuge of Sinners welcomes Handel’s great masterpiece, Messiah, for a very special performance, with choir, full orchestra, and a line-up of the finest soloists under the baton of conductor Niall Kinsella.
No swords or hoop-skirts, please!
Paid parking is available at rear of church (entrance on Richmond Hill). Free on-street parking after 7pm.
